Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’
John 7:38 NLT
Any of the one. If one believes --- it's still good. But many ones also make the promise worthwhile.
Scripture foretells of a body of water -- and a "river" suggests a large portion of water, typically generated from a stream. The living endless stream does not run dry.
(When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)
John 7:39 NLT
Jesus referenced the Holy Spirit in speaking of the "living water." Everyone would receive.. No one would be left out... If they just believed.
On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”
John 7:37-38 NLT
This all occurred as Jesus spoke at a festival. Anyone who was thirsty... Was the offer. Anyone that needs refreshment. Like a carnival caller... Jesus beckoned the crowd. Calling out 'anyone?,' Jesus patiently waited. Jesus made the offer and waited for the crowd to show interest. Jesus did not force anyone to accept this refreshment.
The gift of the spirit would arrive after Jesus entered 'his glory.' This gift was offered. This gift was delay shipped. Until the person accepted the gift and Jesus had activated the gift... It would not be received.
There is no limit to the promise of eternal life, the number of people who win the prize, or the endless waters that flow... giving life.
