“Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise:
Ephesians 6:2 NLT
Honor is the word used to demonstrate great care for others. In fact, the dictionary defines honor as: "high respect; great esteem."
Honor is the care that comes out of "high respect." We show care to the things that we "respect."
This weekend is a holiday meant for "high respect." We show this respect to our earthly fathers. My father did many things to show "great care" for his family.
He wanted us to be housed in a home that was cared for. My father wanted us to see the benefits of food and hard work.
My father was very proud of our accomplishments. Even as an adult my father displayed an article of an accomplishment that I earned.
My father showed love in "time." My father wanted us to join him in interests that he had, music, Irish dancing, and nature.
Many things I do as a parent are because my father showed me how. I honor my father this weekend in many things I do with my children. I hope he sees these and still wants my image posted for all to see!
