Measure up

Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. 1 John 3:19 NLT

When we stand before God where will our chin be? Will it want to stay on our chest in embarrassment? Will it be lifted in prayerful salute to our Savior?

Will God be given a moment to hear a greeting? Will we hang back due to fears that we come no where near measuring up?

Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. 1 John 3:20 NLT

God overcomes feelings; they are not always true and reflective of our actual effort. God knows how we fret over the recalling of our ways. We worry that we have not acted.

Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. 1 John 3:21 NLT

But God also gives us a measure of confidence, as we are his handiwork. He knows us intimately. He has a more accurate scale of our kindness and care for others.

Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us. 1 John 3:24 NLT

God comes through for us as we try to measure our effort with confidence. He lives in us. He knows our heart so well. He sees our motives and our "giving from little." God knows how we care for others and how we show it. He sees when we desire to give but worry about our families or our finances. He sees our heart's cry over the little that we can give.
