Love means

Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.

2 John 1:6 NLT

Love means doing the exact commands God gives us. Love one another is one of these. It is the primary command.

I say this because many deceivers have gone out into the world. They deny that Jesus Christ came in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an antichrist.

2 John 1:7 NLT

Many people who deceive... Who go out into the world... Denying Jesus Christ's story of earthly existence... Cannot be trusted and will be our downfall.

Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward. Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God. But anyone who remains in the teaching of Christ has a relationship with both the Father and the Son.

2 John 1:8‭-‬9 NLT

Watch out for the hard work that you have invested. Anyone who walks away from the teachings of Christ has "no relationship with God."

But the person that studies, follows, and serves as God instructs, has become God's family.

If anyone comes to your meeting and does not teach the truth about Christ, don’t invite that person into your home or give any kind of encouragement. Anyone who encourages such people becomes a partner in their evil work.

2 John 1:10‭-‬11 NLT

John's final warning in this passage... Watch out for the person who speaks against Christ's truths. Avoid their company and do not give them time in your home. Any reward of your attention means you are sharing in their "evil work."
