For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
Galatians 5:13 NLT
Called to freedom. You have an offer above all else...to welcome into your life...a free heart.
Whether you accept this call, and say yes, is your free choice. Whether you deny yourself such a luxury, is up to you.
I felt called when God asked for my heart. I was drawn that day to a choice that I have lived by since that day.
For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Galatians 5:14 NLT
As I try to serve others, I notice that this service brings further freedom. I am free to love those neighbors, not determine their worthiness or innocence. I am free to enjoy what God has created in them.
God has so much design for the freedom He offers. It gives great ability to develop real friendships with little expectation.
This freedom causes no regret and our love a carefree nature. Without it, we want similar efforts and recognition. That way to live is far from carefree. It is debilitating.
And so that is why our freedom to serve others is so important to us. We get to emulate God's heart through our actions. He is an amazing example of carefree love! What freedom!
